Outdoor education

ski trip

The Outdoor Education Program is an integral part of the school's co-curricular program incorporating camps in Years 7, 8 and the Ski Trip open to students in years 10 and 11. Outdoor Education enables students to experience the great outdoors and participate in outdoor recreation activities. Students are given opportunities to find and then extend their personal boundaries. Our camps involve physically and mentally challenging activities which are outdoor and adventure based. They are designed to be sequential but are structured so that the students can participate at their own level.

Outdoor Education aims to develop teamwork, leadership, and initiative skills. Students participate in challenging activities in order to increase self-esteem, self-reliance and self-confidence while promoting an appreciation of the natural environment. Socialisation, experience, and fun are inherent benefits of all our school camps and expeditions. Students participate in outdoor recreational activities while also exploring various aspects of the curriculum relating to personal development, health, physical education, and leadership.

Year 7 and 8 camp

Year 7 Camp

Year 7 camp is held at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation at Narrabeen. Students spend three days and two nights staying in group cabins and building on their teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. Activities at the camp include abseiling, canoeing/kayaking, high ropes, archery, and lots of games and team activities. A specific focus of the Year 7 camp is to assist in the transition between primary and high school and to build relationships between students and staff.

Year 8 Camp

In Year 8 students venture to the Great Aussie Bush Camp at Tea Gardens about 2 and a half hours north of Chatswood. The camp is exactly what the name suggests, a Great Aussie Bush Adventure. Students have the opportunity to participate in a range of fun and challenging activities such as high ropes courses, initiative games, water-based activities, day excursions. Each activity is designed to specifically challenge students in a different way. Some activities are designed to instill confidence at heights, some are designed to promote more positive teamwork skills and others build coordination.
