Students at Chatswood High School have the opportunity to experience and interact with the SoundHouse music and multimedia education facility. The SoundHouse concept was developed in Australia by the Brash Foundation and a passionate group of visionary music educators. Our Soundhouse was officially opened in 1994; we are one of three NSW venues belonging to 'The Soundhouse Alliance'.
The Soundhouse explores the possibilities of combining music and computer technology within the context of the performing arts. Chatswood High School students can explore music-making, and learn technical skills and concepts in the areas of composition, sound design, recording, and film making. Teachers from any faculty are able to bring classes to the Soundhouse to complete units of work. The Soundhouse is open before school and at lunchtime for student use and is the "home base" of our two student news teams.
Chatswood High School gratefully appreciates the generosity of our industry-based partners, in particular, ‘The Roland Corporation’. These partnerships have enabled our students to stay at the forefront of digital media production.
