CHS Careers Hub

CHS Career Mission

At Chatswood High School, career development and transition planning supports students in connecting their learning at school with their strengths, values, and goals to create meaningful futures. Through a range of activities that build lifelong learning skills and self-awareness, students explore their interests and develop a clearer sense of direction. This process fosters confidence, purpose, and resilience, helping young people embrace opportunities and navigate change with a positive outlook.

CHS Career program

Year 10 students at Chatswood High School are provided with opportunities to explore career concepts through a variety of tasks in fortnightly Careers Education lessons. Students are also encouraged to take responsibility for their own career development by keeping up to date with key events on Google Classroom, Sentral daily notices, school newsletters, as well as seeking external opportunities for career development. Students and their families may also make appointments to discuss careers and pathway options with qualified Career Advisers, who are situated in the Nucleus, the senior study area on the ground floor of Q block.

Students have access to career support activities on the following career platforms:

In addition to the Career Conversations program run throughout the year at lunchtimes where universities, TAFE, apprenticeship, and industry representatives are available to speak with students, there are many opportunities for exposure to career related activities and visits during Careers Week in second term.

Chatswood High School Microcredential Hub

Chatswood High School is dedicated to supporting students in navigating the world of microcredentialing.

In our ever-changing world, microcredentialing provides Chatswood High students with a fantastic chance to develop key enterprise skills that are vital for future career success. With the global workforce evolving faster than ever, employers are seeking individuals who bring more than just academic results. They want adaptable, creative, and resourceful people who can thrive amid rapid change.

Microcredential courses also give students a valuable opportunity to explore different career paths and personal interests before committing to further study or employment.

Enterprise skills — often called 21st-century or transferable skills — build on traditional subject knowledge. These include critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, creativity, adaptability, resilience, and digital literacy. Mastering these skills lays a strong foundation to face challenges, seize new opportunities, and succeed in a connected world.

Microcredentialing allows Chatswood High students to take charge of their career construction by enriching their resumes with these valuable experiences. Earning microcredentials shows dedication and capability beyond conventional academic records. These credentials act as proof of a student’s willingness to learn, take initiative and can boost employability, support university applications, and enrich personal growth.
